Native Roots Artists Guild

Mission

The Native Roots Artists Guild is a non-profit community organization dedicated to promoting and supporting Haudenosaunee artists. The Guild was founded in 2010 by a group of volunteer artists, with assistance from the Seneca Nation of Indians Planning Department, and is led by a Board of Directors elected by member artists. The mission of the Native Roots Artists Guild is to maintain a support network for Haudenosaunee artists, perpetuate Haudenosaunee culture, and promote community awareness and appreciate of the arts.
 

Guild Objectives

  1. Provide artists with educational, networking, sales and marketing opportunities.
  2. Serve as an artist advocate group and protect their social, economic, and professional interests.
  3. Preserve and revitalize traditional Haudenosaunee art forms.
  4. Monitor the marketplace for counterfeit goods and ensure that authentic native-made art is sold in an appropriate manner.
  5. Heighten consumer awareness of Haudenosaunee art and education consumers to recognize the value and importance of purchasing authentic native-made art.
  6. Provide a forum for the discussion of issues relevant to the Haudenosaunee arts community.
  7. Encourage the community, especially youth, to get involved and participate in arts programs and education.
  8. Raise the local, regional and national profile of Haudenosaunee artists and traditional culture art forms.
