ALLEGANY RIVER FEST
July 10, 2010

The summer's ultimate place for country-western fun & entertainment!

Country Music Stars Mark Wills, whose song "19 Somethin'" is ranked #2 Country Song of the Decade by Billboard Magazine and Josh Gracin, who continues to be one of American Idols top-selling recording artists with over 700,000 albums sold, will headline as The Crazy White Boys Tour at this year's 2nd Annual Allegany River Fest. The Allegany River Fest is one of New York State's most eclectic and unique summer celebrations....a celebration that showcases some of country music's most talented performers together with Seneca Nation performers (both singing and dancing groups), the Festival's Great Cardboard Boat Regatta, Wild West acts and as befitting any true country music celebration...a mechanical bull. All of this takes place against the scenic backdrop of Salamanca Veteran's Memorial Park and the Allegheny River, with Allegany State Park just a short drive away.

Crowd favorites, The Bobby Hartle Band and West of the Mark will be returning by overwheling demand. SACC is also proud to present, newcomers Native Son. Native Son is a Seneca Native American group, with local roots that performs a mix of country and rock original tunes.

Come and attempt to defeat the mechanical bull or get your loved ones together for a western-style photo. There will also be performances by the Seneca Nation of Indians dance groups and 3 Wild West Acts - fast draw, Texas Bull Whip and Trick Roping acts. Don't miss all the wonderful food and entertainment!

SACC will once again be hosting The Great Cardboard Boat Regatta®. The regatta originated in 1974 at Southern Illinois University and is now enjoyed by more than 1,500 participants and more than 100,000 spectators across the USA each summer, and more communities join the Circuit each year. Family fun, community spirit and creativity are the key elements for this event. Our challenge to you is to design and build a human-powered boat made of corrugated cardboard which is capable of completing at least 3 trips around a 200-yard course. Anyone can participate - just show up on Saturday with your team and your boat! The Races will take place in the Allegheny River at the Front Avenue boat ramp at 10 a.m. For more details and rules, contact the Salamanca Area Chamber of Commerce office at 716-945-2034 or visit The Great Cardboard Boat Regatta®. Immediately following the regatta, the Salamanca Youth Bureau will be sponsoring duck races; all proceeds benefit the Youth Bureau and their projects.

Stop by Veteran's Park on Friday night July 9th to get warmed up for the concert on the 10th. There will be plenty of food and beer and music from Michael "Smitty" Smith with WGWE FM.
